Our story

For 25 years, Philippe Mercadier was in charge of a family property, the Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru classé 1855.

During all his years, he juggled between this vintage and his native lands in the Hérault. He acquired a know-how, a great respect for the cultural values but above all a deep love of this Sauternes wine.

This first vintage was sold to a large group in 1992. It was painful for Philippe who could not resolve at that time to leave his lands of Sauternes.

Through the opportunities and watching the best terroirs, he acquired:

  • In 1992, the CHATEAU TUYTTENS in the commune of Fargues
  • In 1996, the CHATEAU HAUT COUSTET in the commune of Barsac
  • And in 2001, the CHATEAU DE VEYRES in the town of Preignac

It was during this last acquisition that his son, Paul, the 5th generation of winegrowers, took over (even if Philippe is never far away!).

He is, today, helped by his wife Emilie and encouraged by his two daughters, Lou & Jeanne.

Our three properties spread over a total area of 50 hectares spread over 3 of the 5 communes of the appellation.
